In the world of Web technology, a few years is a very long time. The main Buffalo State site was launched in 2004 and has become a comfortable, efficient, and familiar presence for the campus community. The main college site and many key subsites have garnered scores of awards and merits while the vision of the Web team–to create clean, navigable sites that feature useful, up–to–date content and serve users regardless of connection speed–has never changed.
Of course, a lot has happened since 2004…
Web 2.0, for example. Podcasts, blogs, forums, and online photo galleries have come to Buffalo State. What began as features for our Web presence have become vital tools in the way students and faculty interact, learn, and use the Web.
As we begin to look at ways to enhance the user experience and evolve the college Web presence, the Web team will discuss recent research, goals, and vision for an improved user experience. Along with the refresh, we’ll be discussing other upcoming Web projects, Web issues, and Web technologies in general. We encourage your feedback.
For a quick look at how far we’ve come together, take a look at the past version of the Buffalo State Web site: http://www.buffalostate.edu/pastversions.xml.
