There’s No Place Like Home, There’s No Place Like Home…

During our extensive research, we received a few comments from users who didn’t know how to get back to the homepage.

This situation never occurred to us as an issue. It has been standard industry practice for quite some time to use the logo as the home “button.” This works on many sites nowadays. This does not mean that there is anything wrong with users who were having this difficulty. It just means they have a different user experience and we are glad they spoke up and brought this to our attention. Hooray for research! It brings things to our attention we may never have thought of and makes us think outside of our world.

We saw an ingenious idea on Simple Bits (you can see it in action here: http://www.simplebits.com/notebook/) When you roll over their logo, an image indicating “home” is seen. I did a quick mock-up above so you can see how it could work for us (it probably won’t look exactly like this, but you get the idea).

Should we implement something like this on our site (or not)?
