Madonna at H&M

I just recently viewed Madonna’s collection that she has featured at H&M. I went to the website to look at the collection and see how the website was structured and set up. The website was very interactive with the clothes being viewed in a walk in closet on a mannequin. The clothes weren’t viewed as items but as outfits that were changed by clicking on the mannequin, and a woman standing next the mannequin would spin it to change the outfit. I thought that it gave a very realistic feeling. A few things that I didn’t like was that that site does not let you zoom in on the outfits and nothing has a description or name, each item is just labeled dress, pant, etc. I really liked the whole collection overall though, however, I expected some wilder and more out there styles and outfits. I felt as though some of the items were pretty basic and didn’t seem like they had her own touch to them. However, I think that she might have gone with more basic styles and colors so she could to target more people and have them be worn for all different occasions. There were some pieces that didn’t have a wild edge to them though, such as a sequin dress and a black sleeveless cat suit. Those were two of my favorite pieces, along with the kimono dresses. As for the prices, I thought that the collection was slightly over-priced for H&M, but I read that the quality and finishings in each design justified these numbers.

Overall, I think that Madonna can charge what she wants because she is so famous and such an icon to many people all around the world. People will purchase her collection no matter the price just because her name is on it. The collection was just released and is doing well so far, I am interested to see how it will continue to do and what consumers will have to say.
