Neon nails are the rage and are showing up on the sweet hands of our favorite ladies of music and film. Maybe its the reincarnation of the rave scene style or its the reaction to the muted colors that hit the runways this season. Whatever it is, i like it.
What is your take on colored jeans? Stay in the 80’s or make ‘em the best fall pair of jeans you will own. I have been seeing them everywhere, from campus to the mall and in all the magazines. They come in such a variety of colors it is very hard to pass up. It can liven your whole wardrobe. From hollister to lord and taylor, they can be everyday jeans or a night on the town jeans. I currently have a maroon and black pair. The black is my favorite because it can be dressy or everyday casual.
It use to be the trend for celebrities to endorse designer perfume and cosmetic lines, not so much anymore, times have changed! They want to be the starlet of their own fragrance line. Singers Britney Spears, Christina Aguliera, Mariah Carey, Gwen Stefani, Celine Dion, and Jennifer Lopez all have their own fragrance line, but it doesnt just stop there. “People are looking for a lifestyle, whether it’s sunglasses or a car or a bottle of perfume, and celebrity endorsements are part of that lifestyle that’s being offered. In part, it’s being aware of who people aspire to want to be like.” I dont know about you, but im tired of seeing every other page in Elle magazine of some new celebrity fragrance. It is predicted that by 2010 the celebrity trend will weaken. Thank goodness.
The runway shows saw an assortment of color palettes and diverse shades, but one element remained the same-eyeliner. It may have varied in shape, definition, and tone, but a sharp, winged and graphically pointed line was the sole feature on practically every model that strutted up and down the runway. The overall statement was conveyed through a single line.
First there was a super polished, shimmery eye swept with a darker shade on bottom lid and a lighter shade on the top lid to create a natural yet dramatic look. In a similar vein was Versace’s dimensional shadow. It was a solid line and swept out to elongate the eye and create a dark, seductive stare.
Louis Vuitton had a strong, painted line with an exaggerated cleopatra arc past the end of the eyebrow. Other variations were seen in typically Italian lines. Moving on from the stylish echoes of old school elegance, other artists used color and texture for a more futuristic feel. At Paul Smith a neon pink line covered the entire top lid and at the Alessandro Dell’Acqua hard graphic stripes were topped with gloss to create a deconstructed look. Whether you’re channeling the Italian icon, feline seductress or ultra modern fashionista, be sure to draw a line.
Walking around campus I have noticed several students wearing “peace” t-shirts. I haven’t seen actions like this since hearing about it in history class when learning about the 60’s. I was looking at urban outfitters and I couldn’t believe all the war message tees they had they basically took up most of the graphic tees section. Many of the messages were “Make Art not War”, “Peace Now”, Come Together”, and “Increase the Peace” just to name a few.

This is a growing trend and people are using their bodies as billboards instead of their voice to display these messages. I think many other people are going to start wearing these message tees because these people are getting the attention of many people. I am wondering if this new take on silent voices is the new way to get your point across. I think these tees will be here until everything is all over.

Sweater or dress? The new fall must have. It can be paired with jeans or with knee high boots and a waistline belt for the hottest fall look. I have seen them in almost every store and it can double as two outfits. Who wouldn’t love that perk? How do you wear your sweater????
