Has any one else noticed that there are not many women fashion designers. If I had to count ten women fashion designers compared to men it would be quite a struggle. I don’t know about anyone else but I am just curious to why this is? Why are all the men on top? Oscar de la Renta, Valentino, Marc Jacobs, Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, Derek Lam, Phillip Lim, Alexander McQueen, Calvin Klein, Bill Blass, Christian Dior, Christian Lacroix, and Givenchy to name only a few. These men do their job extremely well I am just wondering why there are so few of women in this field. The first fashion designer was Charles Frederick Worth who just happens to be a man. We as future fashion designers need to make sure that there are more women in this field. Many women I know enjoy sewing and a few enjoy designing as well but still our numbers are way off and the men are leading in the fashion design business. We as women know what looks good on us for the most part and we know what we like to wear and what we are willing to pay but still the men are in the lead. Hopefully in the future more women will be fashion designers and it will be more of an even number between men and women fashion designers.
