“I’m Not A Plastic Bag”

041407_plastic.jpg

I have to admit, after seeing it around so much, I’m starting to get interested in the “I’m not a plastic bag” by Anya Hindmarch. I have a kitchen cabinet full of plastic bags I have toted home from stores (why do they double bag everything?) and would love a reusable, fabric alternative. Especially one that is also used by supermodels.

It will be interesting to see if the bag takes off in the US as much as it has everywhere else. I’m keeping an eye out.

Well it got some good press over in the UK at first and then a backlash began.
It was reported (then hotly denied) that the bags had been placed inside plastic bags when bought (!)
Also questions were raised about the fabric (non-organic) and the production methods - were the worker's fairly treated and paid?
From what I remember the response was that the bag was aiming to cut down on plastic bag usage and not fulfil any other criteria...

Also - I forgot to mention that a whole town has gone plastic bag-free in the UK - Modbury
