Another H&M…I think not

0425_trend-watch.jpg
I have to say that the Gap bringing a designer line in to the store was probably not the best idea. I think the main focus right now should be on the permanent line rather than taking the focus somewhere else. This line is expensive for the basic white shirt and I think they could have done the same with Gap designers. This line will be shown on the cover of Vogue in May. This is the first time Gap will be shown on the cover in over 10 years.
Were people lined up at the door like they were when Stella McCartney or Viktor and Rolfe designed for H&M? Not at all. Gap did say that they were pleased with the customers response to it. Customers have been saying that they like the look, very different for the Gap, but that the clothes were cut too large. The three designers are Doo.Ri, which have had the most pleasing sales, Thakoon and Rodarte.
Doo.Ri has a sheer dress at Bergdorf Goodman which sells for $1,000, and the dress as the Gap will sell for under $100. This will be good for the girls who know fashion, because it will be a bargain, but I’m not sure about other Gap customers.

Currently, The Galleria Mall is the only store in our area that carries the clothes.

Show off some color this fall…

I think its safe to say that we can retire our leggings soon. Colored and patterned tights are back and bigger than ever. I was looking at the different styles and they are very bold…so break out from black and white this fall and get into the new colors. I actually found an articles online that gave tips on how to wear this new trend, because some looks are hard to pull off when you are not on the runway and I think this is one of those trends. Instead of jumping right in to a bright hue like lime green go a little more subtle, yet still stylish, with plum. They actually say to ease yourself into the look. Wear it to fill the gap in between the skirt and boots, so it will just be subtle and no too overpowering.
Also, when trying to wear bright tights please don’t match them to your shoes, that is too much color…keep it simple. This picture shows Rachael Bilson, who got the look right, and Joss Stone who really did not.

I really am not sure about there other suggestion. They say to wear fishnet tights over a bright hue, but I think that is way to much. Its easy to hear how to wear something but Anthropologie actually shows us how to wear colored, textured and printed tights. They can really add to and spice up a cute outfit. I can’t wait to see how people take to this trend and hopefully we will start seeing this look around campus. It is such a nice change to see color for fall.
