Just recently I visited New York City for the first time since I completed my internship last summer and I must say I really do enjoy being a part of the Big Apple. What I love about the city is the freedom to be who you are, having the ability to express yourself without judgment and the fast-paced city life. New York is such a different lifestyle than Buffalo and the people living there are so diverse. I spent an hour in Central Park because the weather was beautiful and it was just nice to relax and people watch. I have to say Central Park is one of the best sights in Manhattan for those that want to escape the busy city streets. I feel as though Central Park tells a story and around every corner is a new discovery. When I lived there last summer, one of the highlights of my stay was when I took a horse drawn carriage ride through the park and it was well worth the money to say the least.

Shopping on fifth is also a must for anyone planning on visiting as well as one of my all-time favorite areas, SoHo. SoHo received its name because it is located south of Houston Street. SoHo is not only an eclectic part of the city, but what I like is the brick roads which gives it a more quiet and friendlier appeal than other sections of New York. Roaming down the streets of SoHo on a weekend you can find street vendors selling very unique items and what I like is that they are not pushy, (for those who have been to Chinatown), you know what I mean. It was great trip and it solidified for me how much I would love to make a career there in the fashion capital. For those living in the Buffalo area, I believe New York is a prime destination for anyone wanting to pursue a career in fashion because it’s still close to home and the abundance of jobs available make it even more attractive to those looking for a job in the industry. The downfall to living in New York is obviously the cost of living, but I’ve been told if you want to live the dream, you will find a way to make it happen and I believe I will make it happen one of these days.
