cut it out !

“laser cutting is a technology that uses a laser programed by a computer to cut materials.
the material then either melts, burns, vaporizes away, or is blown away by a jet of gas, leaving an edge with a high quality surface finish.”

laser cutting may be one of the new waves in fashion design, and we may start seeing a lot more of it [including some diy projects perhaps?!]. although it’s been around for quite awhile… spring 2009 had some great inspirational pieces using this technique. the cutting is so precise and the outcome is gorgeous creations. i think this style is so innovative and creates such a modern edge on garments.

while searching around i also found these goodies from spring 2002 line.
this is alberta ferretti’s junior line, philosophy

love love love the peek-a-boo laser cut skirts underneath, such a subtle but creative approach.

hot stuff.

Hi, I just came across this post and found it interesting. I work for a laser systems manufacturer and realized our systems have been used to make shoes. I just wrote an article on my blog at www.laserphotonics.blogspot.com if you're interested, it has photos of the shoes too. Have a great day!
